The Shambles (official name Shambles) is an old cobbled street in York, England, with overhanging timber-framed buildings, some dating back as far as the fourteenth century. "Shambles" Use to be a term used for an open-air slaughterhouse and meat market. The Shambles has a market behind that still runs today and is well worth a look to pick up a bargain. You'll find lots of small interdependent owned shops on The Shambles. It's a great place to find local gifts and souvenirs. The Shambles is one of York's best known streets and visitors come just to see the buildings it's defiantly a historic site that any visitor to York should see and take some Photographs of.  Shambles

Some great little shops down the Shambles and the buildings are amazing. Someone asked me once why they built them that way haha.
